Disk Usage and Bandwidth Policy

If you choose to publish from http://studentorgs.utexas.edu/, please read the following information regarding bandwidth:

• Web sites at studentorgs.utexas.edu are limited to 1 GB of off-campus bandwidth per week.
  
  
• Student organizations can view bandwidth usage at studentorgs.utexas.edu/bandwidth/.
  
  
• If your student organization exceeds the bandwidth limit:
  
  
  • First time - your organization will receive a warning.
    
    
  • Second time - access to your site will be restricted to campus only until you contact ITS.
    
    
  • Third time - you will lose publishing privileges for the remainder of the year.
    
    
• ITS will work closely with Student Activities and Leadership Development so they are aware of the violations. ITS can also assist student organizations with their sites so they use less bandwidth. Examples include compressing video and restricting sites to UT EID login only. These both can reduce the amount of bandwidth used by a site.
