Fugu for Macintosh

Fugu is an open-source secure file transfer client for the Macintosh. You can use this program to drag and drop your local files and folders to the Web server. Fugu requires Mac OS 10.2 or higher.

If you do not already have Fugu, you can download it from the Bevoware site. The instructions below assume that you have already installed the program.

Getting Connected

1. In the Connect To: field enter uts.cc.utexas.edu if you are uploading to Web Central.
2. Enter your UTS login name in the username field.
3. Enter 22 for the port number
4. If you leave the directory field blank, you will connect to your home directory on UTS. Or you can connect directly to your Web publishing directory by typing /usr/pub/www/yourdirectory/ for Web Central and /export/httpd/vhosts/wwwtest/ata/yourdirectory for wwwtest.utexas.edu.
5. If you want to add this information to your Fugu favorites list, click Add to Favorites. Next time you will be able to connect by choosing this configuration from your favorites list.
   
6. When prompted for your password, enter it in the dialog box and click OK.
7. Once you have connected successfully, you will see a window with two window panes (shown below) that represent the files and folders on your local Macintosh and those on the Web server.

At this stage you area ready to transfer files.

Transferring Files

Transferring files with Fugu is a drag and drop process.

1. The left window pane displays files and folders on your local Macintosh. Simply double-click on a folder to open it or click the up arrow icon (shown below) to move up a level in the folder hierarchy. You can also use the drop down folder hierarchy menu to navigate as well.
   
2. The right window pane behaves similarly.
3. You can also click the Go To button in the top of the window and type a directory path for either your local or remote system to go there directly.
4. Once you have navigated to the correct locations on both your local Macintosh and the remote Web server, transfer files by simply dragging them from the left window pane to the right window pane. You can also download files from the server as well by dragging them from the right window pane to the left window pane.

Quitting

When you are finished transferring files, you should quit Fugu.
