- What is the Longhorn Aquatics Masters Swimming Program?
- The Longhorn Aquatics Masters Swimming Team (TXLAM) is a University of Texas adult fitness-swimming program within the Department of University Operations.
- What is the goal of the Program.
- The goal of the TXLAM coaching staff is to help all members of the team improve their swimming by working on endurance, fitness, and proper technique.
- Who swims on this team?
- TXLAM team members range in age from 18 to 90. The range in ability is also very broad. The team ranges in ability from swimmers who have college swimming experience to athletes that are just learning how to do the four competitive strokes, flip turns and the more technical aspects of the sport.
- Where?
- Our workouts are at the Texas Swimming Center (TSC). The TSC is located on the University of Texas campus on the North West corner of MLK and Red River streets. Please refer to this map. The phone number for the swimming center is 471-7703.
- Parking
- Parking can sometimes be a challenge. As of September 1, all vehicles must have a UT parking permit. There are several parking solutions for masters swimmers. Read about our parking options. the "E" permit is the best option. For specific parking information call the Parking and Transportation office at 512-471-7275.
- What is a TXLAM workout like?
- A TXLAM workout consists of swimmers who are grouped by ability and experience. TXLAM uses 8-10 lanes per workout. Lane population is 3-4 per lane. Fitness and endurance is the focus of each workout while maintaining proper form and technique. The workouts consist of race-paced swimming, kicking, drill work, pulling, and fin work. There is a friendly, helpful and competitive environment at all workouts.

* The TSC is one of the finest aquatics facilities in the world. As a result of this there are a large number of championship meets held in the building. This disrupts our schedule and cancellations do occur. We welcome all swimmers interested in improving their swimming to come by and see a TXLAM workout. Interested swimmers are welcome to observe at any of the workout times or try out a workout. For forms to try a workout, see Tryout Forms.
** UT evening Masters may revert to the old training time of 8:00-9:15p if pool space becomes limited.
Sign up
Membership sign up is conducted at the front desk of the Texas Swimming Center, M-F from 7:00a- 8:00p. You will complete some paperwork, pay and receive an access code at the time of registration.

2009-2010 Fees
New members will be charged for two months at registration.
