Recruitment Weekend

March 27-30, 2008

Each spring we invite prospective students who have been accepted into the program to come visit campus and be our guest for the weekend. We offer this invitation so that prospective students have the opportunity to get to know our students, post-docs and faculty and experience first hand the invigorating campus environment and the exciting atmosphere that Austin has to offer.

Visiting students arrive on Thursday and are greeted by current INS students and faculty with a casual buffet dinner at their hotel.

On Friday, students are officially welcomed to UT Austin where they have the opportunity to tour the campus and laboratories and have ample time for one-on-one meetings with individual faculty members.

Students are encouraged to request meetings with specific faculty members with which they have a particular interest.

After a full day at campus, Friday evening is reserved for a scenic riverboat dinner tour of Lake Austin with the INS students and faculty.

On Saturday, visiting students are treated to a casual Texas style barbeque lunch at the director’s house. Afterwards students may choose to participate in one of several optional activities (e.g., tour the Texas state capitol, visit the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, kayak Lady Bird Lake or attend a UT sporting event).

Finally, on Saturday evening the current INS students host visiting students for dinner and a night out in the music capitol of the world.
