Deadline set for January for Dobie-Paisano fellowships

The deadline for applying for Dobie-Paisano writing fellowships, which offer recipients six months in residence at the late J. Frank Dobie's ranch near Austin, is Jan. 23, 1998. The fellowships are sponsored by the Texas Institute of Letters and The University of Texas at Austin.

UT Austin receives gift of data from Texaco

A new report describing poverty, racial prejudice and inferior education, but also some improved conditions affecting many African American children living in Texas, was released Wednesday (Oct. 1) as a part of The Texas Kids Count Project. The research was conducted at The University of Texas at Austin in partnership with the Center for Public Policy Priorities of Austin.

Tests of one of the world's lightest-weight, highest-energy flywheel rotors surpassed these designers' performance goals, bringing low-cost, high-speed passenger rail service closer to reality.

UT Austin to unveil scale models of Martin Luther King Jr. Sculpture; Committee will select artist at Oct. 28 meeting

After nearly 10 years of effort, the students at The University of Texas at Austin are one step closer to having a sculpture of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. erected on the East Mall of the campus. The Martin Luther King Jr. Sculpture Committee is unveiling the maquette's (scale models) produced by the five artists who are finalists vying for the commission of this historic project at the University.
