University of Texas at Austin professors William H. Goetzmann, a Pulitzer ¬Prize winning author, and David M. Hillis, a molecular biologist and recipient of the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship, have been elected fellows of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

It is the most common type of cancer among American women, accounting for one of every three cancers diagnosed in the United States. And even though great strides have been made in scientific knowledge about the disease, the exact cause of breast cancer still eludes researchers.

The researchers also found a strong relationship between how infants acquire speech motor control and the origins of speech production skills in early man.

Houston area students get more than $200,000 in scholarship grants during visit by UT Austin officials

President Larry R. Faulkner of The University of Texas at Austin and members of his staff on April 12 delivered more than $200,000 in scholarship grants to 57 seniors in six Houston area high schools and urged the high academic achievers to consider attending UT Austin next fall.
