Dr. John Kappelman, professor of zoology at The University of Texas at Austin, will lecture on how the recovery of new fossil specimens has changed our understanding of the timing of human origins. The lecture, Ancestors of Us All: Recent Discoveries in Human Origins and Evolution, is part of the UT Austin Department of Geological Sciences Outreach Lecture Series.

Explore UT will showcase the University's colleges, schools and units through hands-on activities, demonstrations, exhibitions and lectures. The event will take place at the campus on Saturday, March 3, 2001, from noon to 6 p.m. and will be free to the public.

A few minutes of light for Tower Monday night

Just as the sun sets on Monday (Feb. 19), the lights illuminating the Tower at The University of Texas at Austin will be turned on for 10 to 15 minutes while a television production crew in a helicopter circling overhead captures the Tower image on video. Then the lights will be turned off until Tuesday evening.
