Fall 2001 convocations this week at The University of Texas at AustinDecember 6, 2001 WHAT: Photo opportunity. An estimated 3,000 students will be graduated during Fall 2001 convocation ceremonies scheduled this week by the various schools and colleges at The University of Texas at Austin. WHEN/WHERE: Friday through Sunday (Dec. 7-9) at The University of Texas at Austin. Specific information and contacts are available online. The convocation schedule includes: Friday (Dec. 7): BACKGROUND: Convocation ceremonies, hosted by the various colleges and schools allow components of the university to celebrate the achievements of their graduates with individualized honors and traditions. The convocations provide photo opportunities for the candidates' families to capture moments such as the hooding of doctor's and master's students or a dean shaking students' hands as their names are called and they walk across the stage. According to the Office of Institutional Studies, there were 2,983 graduates during the fall 2000 semester and 3,072 during the fall 1999 semester. The fall 2000 graduates included 2,218 undergraduates, 510 graduate students, 222 doctoral students, 31 law students and two pharmacy school graduates. |
