Placing renewed emphasis on the importance of writing skills, The University of Texas at Austin announced today (Jan. 14) that high school seniors planning to enter college in fall 2006 will be required to demonstrate writing skills on an admissions test to be accepted to the university.

The State of Texas Court of Criminal Appeals will hold oral arguments Jan. 15 in the Eidman Courtroom at The University of Texas at Austin School of Law. The court is the highest Texas court with jurisdiction over criminal matters.

A biologist at The University of Texas at Austin has teamed up with an economist to provide the strongest statistical evidence yet that global warming is affecting the natural world. Even when the pair considered habitat destruction or other possible underlying causes for behavior changes in plants, animals and other wildlife, the analyses still pointed to global warming.
