RTF alumnus named finalist for two Student Academy Awards

Scott Rice, a 2003 Master of Fine Arts alumnus and lecturer in the Department of Radio-Television-Film (RTF) at The University of Texas at Austin, has been named a finalist in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 31st annual Student Academy Awards competition.

Blanton Museum of Art appoints Ann Wilson as associate director

Jessie Otto Hite, director of the Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin, today announced the appointment of Ann Hume Wilson as associate director of the Museum, effective May 17, 2004. As associate director, Wilson will oversee visitor services, marketing, public relations and publications. Wilson has served as director of marketing and communications for the Walters Art Museum, Baltimore, since January 1997.

Accounting students from The University of Texas at Austin once again exceed all-state average

Accounting students from The University of Texas at Austin once again claimed by far the highest passing rate in the state for the annual Certified Public Accountants exam, beating Texas' average passing rate by 43 percentage points, according to recently released results from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.

The University of Texas at Austin to sponsor student art exhibit in Brownsville; Exhibit will showcase art by students from local high schools

The Brownsville Heritage Complex in Brownsville, Texas will be the site for Fronteras Cruzadas, a unique art exhibition showcasing work by students of six Brownsville high schools. The exhibit will be produced through ArtsReach, a program designed by the College of Fine Arts at The University of Texas at Austin and sponsored by the University Co-op to encourage undergraduate students to establish residencies in their home communities.

University of Texas at Austin student awarded Beinecke Scholarship

Melisa Gerecci has been awarded a Beinecke Scholarship worth $32,000 in support of her graduate education. She was one of 18 awardees selected from a pool of 87 nominations. Each scholar will receive $2,000 prior to entering graduate school and an additional $30,000 while attending graduate school.

Math, biology majors receive Goldwater scholarships

Seniors Rachel Ward and Jeffrey Woodruff at The University of Texas at Austin are among 310 students nationally who have been named 2004 Goldwater Scholars. The scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding second- and third-year college students enrolled in science and engineering programs.
