Pioneering University of Texas at Austin physicist receives prestigious Einstein award

Dr. Bryce S. DeWitt, a professor emeritus in physics at The University of Texas at Austin and a leading theoretical physicist, has been named the second recipient of the Einstein Prize from the American Physical Society.
Collaborative program offered by colleges of Natural Sciences and Education helps science, math teachers in public schools earn advanced degrees

The degree program is an offshoot of the College of Natural Sciences' UTeach program, which gives college students early classroom exposure and other experiences to become certified to teach grades K-12. Recognizing that UTeach graduates and other teachers have few opportunities to learn new teaching and scientific concepts, UTeach coordinators and colleagues in the College of Education created the master's degree program.

The Tower of The University of Texas at Austin will be illuminated bright orange tonight Wednesday (Aug. 25) and Thursday evening (Aug. 26) so it can be filmed as a focal point of the campus in a production to be used in promoting the university. The strategic planning and positioning firm GSD&M and the university's Office of Public Affairs are coordinating the production.
