Black History Month Concert at Bates Hall; A Celebration of Black Composers and Arrangers

EVENT: The University of Texas at Austin School of Music and the Music Department at Huston-Tillotson University will present a free concert celebrating black composers of the past and present.
WHEN: 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb 5. Doors open at 7 p.m.
WHERE: Bates Recital Hall, MRH Building. A campus map is available online.
BACKGROUND: This is the second collaborative Black Composers Concert performed by University of Texas at Austin and Huston-Tillotson University music students. The concerts feature traditionally underperformed works by black composers from classical to jazz to gospel. The collaboration between the universities is a venture encouraging musical collaboration within Austin.
Performers will include UT Jazzbonez, the Huston-Tillotson Concert Choir and Jazz Band, the Greater Mount Zion Combined Choir, and soloists from The University of Texas at Austin and Huston-Tillotson University.
