Center Screens "Shadows" by Internationally Renowned Filmmaker Milcho Manchevski

Event: The Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies at The University of Texas at Austin and the Austin Film Society present an evening with Macedonian filmmaker Milcho Manchevski. The event includes a sneak preview of Manchevski's new film, "Shadows," followed by a question-and-answer session with the director. The event is free and open to the public.

When: 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 12.

Where: Texas Union Theater. A map of campus is online.

Background: An internationally acclaimed filmmaker, Manchevski has directed more than 60 film projects. "Shadows," which premiered last fall at the Toronto Film Festival, explores the mind of a doctor whose life turns upside down after a serious car accident. His 1994 film, "Before the Rain," addressed violence in the Balkans and earned the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival, an Independent Spirit Award and an Academy Award nomination. Born in Skopje, Macedonia, Manchevski lives in New York City where he teaches directing at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
