| April 14 | Friar Society Selects History Professor for Teaching Excellence Award The University of Texas at Austin Friar Society awarded Distinguished Teaching Associate Professor of History G. Howard Miller, the 2008-09 Friar Centennial Teaching Fellowship on Monday, April 14. The $15,000 award is the university's largest for undergraduate teaching excellence.

| April 14 | Aga Khan University and The University of Texas at Austin Form Academic Partnership The University of Texas at Austin has established a five-year exchange agreement with Aga Khan University (AKU) in Pakistan, which has campuses in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The agreement includes research collaborations, special events and lectures, secondary teaching training programs, and faculty and student exchanges.

| April 4 | UTFI Film "The Cassidy Kids" Strikes Distribution Deal with B-Side "The Cassidy Kids," the second feature film from The University of Texas Film Institute (UTFI) and its for-profit production company Burnt Orange Productions, has been picked up for distribution by B-Side's Choice Indies program and will air on the Independent Film Channel (IFC) this month.
