Chevron Gives $1,149,600 in Grants To The University of Texas at Austin

AUSTIN, Texas — Chevron has contributed $1,149,600 in grants to support lab renovations, student scholarships and academic programs at The University of Texas at Austin, bringing the company's total university giving to more than $37 million.

The contribution, representing four separate gifts from the company in 2008, targets programs serving students in the university's Jackson School of Geosciences, Cockrell School of Engineering and McCombs School of Business. The $1,149,600 donation was presented to university officials on Oct. 27 at a campus reception with students who have previously completed internships with Chevron.

Mark Blount, the university's director of corporate relations, said Chevron's support makes top programs at the university even stronger.

"Our geosciences, engineering and business programs are among the best in the country," he said. "With ongoing support from great partners like Chevron, The University of Texas at Austin will continue to lead in these vital fields."

Chevron is one of the largest integrated energy companies in the world. Headquartered in San Ramon, Calif., the company conducts business in more than 100 countries.
