Jan. 12 Former University President Lorene Rogers Dies at Age 94
Lorene L. Rogers, who was the first woman to head a major research university when she became president of the University of Texas in 1975, died last night (Jan. 11) at the age of 94 at an assisted living facility here.Jan. 12 Gov. Mathematics Professor Luis Caffarelli of The University of Texas at Austin received the 2009 Leroy P. Steele Prize for Lifetime Achievement yesterday from the American Mathematical Society (AMS).
