Students Win Seven Awards at Advertising Competition

AUSTIN, Texas — Advertising students at The University of Texas at Austin have won seven student ADDY® Awards, including five student gold ADDY Awards, in the American Advertising Federation's (AAF) district 10 competition.

The awards will be presented April 25 during the AAF's 10th District Convention in Houston. The five gold award winners will compete at the national ADDY® Awards, the world's largest advertising competition.

The five student gold ADDY Awards were given to:

  • Graduate student Anna Mejia, who was copywriter, and senior Keli Linehan, who was art director, for their poster reinterpreting New York City's Flatiron building as a book spine for Architectural Digest.
  • Copywriter Laura Scullin (B.S. '08) and radio-TV-film senior Matt Nall, who was art director, for their image of a bouquet of meat promoting Lobel's Meat Market in the point of purchase category.
  • Senior Dani Dias, who was copywriter, and Suzanne Elizondo (B.S. '08), who was art director, for their billboard featuring the open jaws of a alligator encouraging visitors to San Diego Wild Animal Park, which won in the mixed media category.
  • Art director Brooke Baker (B.S. '08) and copywriter Dylan Harvey (B.S. '08) for their Igloo advertisement depicting a snowman made of Igloo Coolers, which won the single consumer/trade magazine category.
  • Ani Munoz (B.S. '08) and Stephen Reidmiller (B.S. '08) who jointly art directed and wrote the copy for a poster for the Sierra Club, featuring a flatline EKG and the tag "If the world goes flat, we all do."

Posters for Architectural Digest and CreditCounseling.org earned Student Silver ADDY® awards.

The American Advertising Federation, a not-for-profit industry association, conducts the ADDY® Awards through its 200 member advertising clubs and 15 districts. It is the only creative awards program administered by the advertising industry for the industry.
