President of The University of Texas at Austin to Visit Dallas Area High Schools Thursday, Dec. 3

AUSTIN, Texas — William Powers Jr., president of The University of Texas at Austin, will lead a delegation of university representatives to Dallas Thursday, Dec. 3, to visit top students in three high schools and to join area legislators in encouraging the students to pursue a college education.
The delegation's itinerary includes visits to the following schools:
- 9 a.m. at Sunset High School, 2120 W. Jefferson Blvd., where they will join Texas Sen. Royce West and Texas State Rep. Roberto Alonzo in talking with students.
- 11 a.m. at Adamson High School, 201 E. 9th Street, with Alonzo.
- 1:30 p.m. at James Madison High School, 3000 Martin Luther King, with West and Texas State Rep. Terri Hodge.
The delegation will include three students from The University of Texas at Austin who were graduated from Dallas area high schools. The students are: Tanya Hendricks, James Madison High School; Frank May, Adamson High School; and Carla Leyva, Sunset High School.
The university's group also will include Dr. Gregory Vincent, vice president for the Office of Diversity and Community Engagement; Dr. Kedra Ishop, vice provost and director of the Office of Admissions; Gwen Grigsby, associate vice president for the Office of Governmental Relations; and Michelle Guzman, student financial aid officer with Student Financial Services.
