Background: The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center unveils a new interactive exhibit this month as part of its January offerings during free admission month. The contemporary, permanent exhibit in the Visitors Gallery has eight interactive stations that orient people to the Center, inspire action and make the case for native plants and their role in ensuring a sustainable future. Visitors can enjoy meals at the café, shopping for clothing and more at the Center store. A new exhibit by two Texas artists opened Jan. 9. "Anticipation: The Promise of Spring," the exhibit in the McDermott Learning Center, features remarkable seed and pod sculptures by T.J. Mabrey, and evocative paintings of Vermont winter by Austin-based Eliza Thomas.

Complementing the new exhibit stations in the Visitors Gallery is a resource center with high-resolution slide shows of wildflowers and computers for learning about native plants in greater detail. The exhibit designed and built by Xibitz Inc. was made possible by the family of Claire Kolodzey, a docent for many years, and by contributions from Heart Sing Foundation, the Lola Wright Foundation and from volunteers.
