Media Advisory: Press Briefing on Campus Shooting

Press Briefing

Police and university officials will provide an update for the shooting on The University of Texas at Austin campus Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010.

When: 12:15 p.m., Tuesday

Where: AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center, Room 201. Enter from Whitis Avenue on the west side of the building. Maps of The University of Texas at Austin are available online.

My deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this young person who took his life. The police did a fine job containing the situation.

From what I can ascertain, a student at The University of Texas at Austin unfortunately committed suicide in the Perry-Castaneda Library sometime this morning with a firearm. Maybe he left a note behind to tell why he did it. The shooter appears to be the only victim.
