“Ultimate Student Survey” Seeks Undergraduate Feedback

AUSTIN, Texas — Undergraduate students at The University of Texas at Austin, beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 1, will be able to participate in the "Ultimate Student Survey" to express their opinions about the quality of education they are receiving and contribute ideas on how it could be improved.

This is the second consecutive year the university has conducted the online Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) survey, which seeks feedback from undergraduates on topics including academic preparation, quality of education, student services and student satisfaction.

University officials said the survey is intended to broaden understanding of the undergraduate experience and foster campus improvements.

The SERU survey is administered by the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the University of California at Berkeley. Other participating research institutions include Rutgers University and the universities of Florida, Michigan, Minnesota and Oregon, among others. The survey lasts 20 to 25 minutes and consists of multiple-choice and written response questions.

Undergraduates also will be invited to participate via e-mail, through Facebook and Twitter, and through student tabling efforts on the Gregory Plaza. The study is co-sponsored by the Office of the President and the Division of Student Affairs.

Students who complete the survey will be eligible to win $250 toward school books, an Apple iPad, athletic tickets and other incentives.
