Background: The role of analytics is coming into much clearer focus as organizations face an overwhelming volume of data from new and diverse sources, including text and multimedia, and structured and unstructured data. This is creating new complexities for leaders across industries. These complexities are ushering in a new era of computing, one that requires business outcomes that are insight-driven, solutions that are more intelligent, and technology designed to be more cognitive.

John B. Gordon will discuss not only the data that we can mine, but also how we can start to leverage data in new ways to solve specific organizational, environmental and societal challenges. Gordon is the director of Strategy and Product Management for IBM’s new Watson Solutions Division. He is responsible for developing end-to-end business models for transforming the innovations created by IBM Watson into a strategic set of industry solutions.
