Former Education Secretary William Bennett to Discuss Education Policy at UT Austin

William Bennett will discuss “Education Policy and the American Future” at a public lecture sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin.

When: 4 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4

Background: Acclaimed political scholar and University of Texas at Austin alumnus William Bennett (Ph.D. political philosophy) has authored 20 books, including two New York Times bestsellers. He hosts the nationally syndicated conservative radio talk show “Morning in America” and appears regularly on CNN.

Bennett has held several Cabinet-level positions including secretary of education under President Ronald Reagan and director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy under President George H.W. Bush.

Bennett serves as chairman of K12 Inc., an online education company, and as a senior adviser to Project Lead the Way, a nationally recognized nonprofit that provides training and curriculum to improve STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education in American schools.
