AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas at Austin President Bill Powers and McCombs School of Business Dean Thomas Gilligan will join El Paso native and University of Texas at Austin alumnus Woody L. Hunt in El Paso to thank contributors for their generosity and to encourage the community to help meet Hunt's gift challenge.

Event: Press event with President Powers, Dean Gilligan and Woody Hunt

When: Thursday, Feb. 28, 5 p.m.

Where: Coronado Tower

6006 North Mesa, 11th Floor

El Paso, TX 79912

Background/Additional Information: Less than six months ago, Woody Hunt announced a $1 million pledge to the Business Honors Program (BHP) at the McCombs School of Business that will help the program attract more top students from his home region.

The Woody Hunt Gift Challenge will provide $1 million to the program if the McCombs School of Business raises an additional $2 million during the next five years. Since then, the El Paso community has contributed $255,000.

The gift is set up as a challenge grant that, once funded, will support the new Woody L. Hunt Endowed Excellence Fund for the expansion of BHP student programs and a presidential scholarship aimed at recruiting top students from the El Paso/Las Cruces/Juarez area.

In addition, the $500,000 goal for this event will fund two additional scholarships solely for El Paso students who want to attend the McCombs School of Business, including BHP.
