Media Advisory: University of Texas at Austin Students Prepare for 2013 Fashion Show
April 4, 2013
AUSTIN, Texas — Textiles and apparel students at The University of Texas at Austin are completing the garments they have designed for the 2013 fashion show to be held Thursday, April 18, at 7:15 p.m. in the Frank Erwin Center.
This year’s show, titled “Transcend,” will feature more than 120 original student-constructed garments with a mix of textiles and techniques including leather, faux fur and handcrafted chainmail.
Students will be at work in the sewing laboratories, adding the final touches to their garments. This is an exciting time for our textiles and apparel students; for many, this is the last opportunity they have to work on the garments before they debut on the runway at the fashion show.
The media are invited to meet our student designers as they make the final preparations in advance of the big night.
Interview, Photo and Video opportunity:
Students will be available to speak about the garments they have designed and constructed, about their creative processes and about their contributions to the fashion show. The students’ garments will be mounted on dress forms.
