Mechanical Engineering Professor Arumugam "Ram" Manthiram, of the Cockrell School of Engineering, has been named director of the Texas Materials Institute (TMI) at The University of Texas at Austin.

New $5 Million Grant to Fund Research Advances in Solar and Other Renewable Energy Technologies

The Center for Electrochemistry (CEC) at The University of Texas at Austin has received a $5 million grant from the Houston-based Welch Foundation to start the Renewable Energy Initiative (REI), a multi-disciplinary, collaborative effort to promote advances in renewable energy technologies.
