Gardner Marston’s $6.6 Million Gift to Support History Graduate Students at The University of Texas at Austin
A $6.6 million gift from the estate of Gardner Marston will boost graduate student recruitment and support in the Department of History at the University of Texas at Austin.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved a new doctoral program in Black Studies at The University of Texas at Austin, marking a first for the university, the state of Texas, and the American South and Southwest. The Department of African and African Diaspora Studies (AADS) in the College of Liberal Arts will administer the new degree program.
In connection with the African and African Diaspora Studies Department, The University of Texas at Austin has appointed King Davis founding director of the Institute for Urban Policy Research and Analysis.
