Chicano Literature Professor Rolando Hinojosa-Smith Wins National Book Critics Circle Lifetime Achievement Award
The National Book Critics Circle has honored Rolando Hinojosa-Smith, an author and professor in the departments of English and Spanish and Portuguese at The University of Texas at Austin, with the 2013 Ivan Landrof Lifetime Achievement Award. He will receive the award during a ceremony March 13 in New York City.

The Center for European Studies (CES) and the Texas Language Technology Center (TLTC) at The University of Texas at Austin have been awarded federal grants totaling more than $3 million to establish new language and culture centers that will allow them to strengthen their role as national leaders in their fields.

About half of the 49 professors who will be joining the College of Liberal Arts faculty in 2009-2010 are female.
