Dennis Luna and Rene Mendoza of Edinburg, Texas, named Migrant Students of the Year at The University of Texas at Austin

High school students Dennis Luna and Rene Mendoza, both from Edinburg, Texas, were named "Students of the Year" by the Migrant Student Graduation Enhancement Program at The University of Texas at Austin. Each student received a $2,000 college scholarship funded by a gift from the ExxonMobil Foundation.

Commissioner Meredith Attwell Baker of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will speak during a forum and press conference at The University of Texas at Austin Monday, Sept. 21, on the importance of broadband Internet technology for distance learning to prepare high school students for higher education.
