The management board for the University of Texas Elementary School (UTES) has selected Melissa Chavez and Mary Ledbetter to become the new executive director and principal, respectively, for the school.
Dr. Ramona Treviño, the chief executive officer and founding principal of the UT Elementary School, has been named chief academic officer for the Austin Independent School District (AISD). Treviño will begin her new job on March 29.
The University of Texas Elementary School enters its seventh year of operation under the title of "Exemplary," based on its spring 2009 scores on the Texas Academic Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) tests. UT Elementary joins Austin ISD's Blanton and Ortega elementary schools as the only east Austin schools with this rating.
