Application Procedures for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN)
Application Procedures for the Pre-Nursing Sequence
Students must first apply for admission to The University of Texas at Austin as a Pre-Nursing major. Students must be formally admitted to the University with the Pre-Nursing major code in order to complete the BSN prerequisite courses and apply to the Upper-Division Professional Sequence.
Application Procedures for the Upper-Division Professional Sequence
All students applying for formal admission to the BSN Upper-Division Professional Sequence must submit the following application materials to the Student Affairs Office (NUR 2.400) by the appropriate deadline.
Application Deadline
- February 15 for fall admission
- September 15 for spring admission
Application Materials
- Completed School of Nursing Upper-Division Application (PDF)
- $50.00 application fee (check or money order made payable to the UT Austin School of Nursing, UTASN)
- Official transcripts from ALL colleges/universities attended (does not include UT Austin)*
- Three letters of reference - see the Upper-Division Reference Forms (PDF).
*An official high school transcript must be submitted only if the foreign language prerequisite was satisfied in high school.

Application Procedures for the Associate Degree in Nursing to Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (ADN-BSN)
All students applying for admission to the ADN-BSN program must complete two separate applications: The Apply Texas online application as a transfer student and the School’s ADN-BSN application. Both applications must be completed and submitted by the appropriate deadline.
Application Deadline
- February 15 for Fall-only program start
Application Materials
- Completed School of Nursing ADN-BSN Application (PDF)
- $50.00 application fee (check of money order made payable to the UT Austin School of Nursing, UTASN)
- Official transcripts from ALL colleges/universities attended (does not include UT Austin)*
- Three letters of reference (see ADN-BSN Reference Form (PDF)
- Pharmacology Waiver form (PDF) **
*An official high school transcript must be submitted only if the foreign language prerequisite was satisfied in high school.
**This form should be used by ADNs with at least one year of paid nursing employment that involved administering medications for patients with a variety of health problems. Employment must have occurred within the last three years.
Note: Students are required to submit two separate sets of official transcripts. One set is sent to the UT Austin Office of Admissions for admission to the University. The second is sent to the School of Nursing for admission to the ADN-BSN program.
