Recreational Sports Spring Kickball Tournament - March 30

Join the ANGS Kickball Team called Kick As Needed!! This is open to all graduate nursing students in good standing. The tournament will be held on March 30th. ANGS Meeting - March 23

Friday, March 23, 2012 from 4:30-5:30pm at Scholz Garten, 1607 San Jacinto, Austin, TX 78701. The LBJ School of Public Affairs student organization has been invited to join us.

Representative Needed at the Senate of College Councils General Assembly Meetings

ANGS needs one graduate nursing student in good standing to serve as representative at the Senate of College Council General Assembly meetings. These meetings are held every other Thursday at 7pm in SAC 2.302. This position will provide feedback and vote on behalf of graduate nursing students for issues discussed at the Senate of College Councils meetings. The representative is also responsible for reporting back to the Graduate Nursing Students about the meetings.

Immediate Opening: Graduate Student Assembly Representative

The Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) is in need of a graduate nursing student in good standing to serve as representative at the meetings. There is one open representative position. The Graduate Student Assembly works on many important issues related to graduate student life, including improved health benefits for student employees, increased job protection for students who take maternity leave, University-wide graduate student events, and more. Representatives must be able to attend the bi-weekly meetings at the following dates and times:

2012-2013 Executive Committee Nominations

ANGS Executive Committee Nominations are now being accepted for the 2012-2013 school year. All positions are open for nominations, and any student is welcome to apply. Please submit names by using the Nomination Form. Click here to download the 2012-2013 Executive Committee Nominations Form (PDF - To view PDF file, download Adobe Reader). Once completed, they can be delivered to the ANGS mailbox via the front security desk, or emailed to angs@austin.utexas.edu. Nominations can be made by any UT School of Nursing graduate student, faculty member, or staff. Those nominated will be contacted to accept or decline nomination prior to the election. Nominations will be accepted Tuesday, February 1, 2012 through Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

Faculty Appreciation Brunch -  March 7

From 11am-1pm on March 7th in room 5.180, ANGS is hosting a Faculty Appreciation luncheon. Stop by for a complimentary lunch and show your gratitude for our amazing School of Nursing Faculty members. Contact AE MSN Representative Coffee Bourn for more information.

Announcements:

  • In December 2011, ANGS was awarded Exemplary Certification through The Dean of Student’s Leadership and Ethics Institute.
  • O’s Campus Café is open! ANGS is grateful for the generous donation from University Federal Credit Union. Stop by the café in the 3rd floor student lounge for coffee, breakfast, lunch, or snacks. Based on student demand, the café is staying open late until 5pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Explore UT – March 3

Get involved with the School of Nursing and Explore UT! This year, we are collaborating with the School of Pharmacy to provide several exciting events. Contact Dr. Corinne Grimes for more information.

Interdisciplinary Healthcare Event - March 1

ANGS and the Pharmacy Council are teaming up again to host the Interdisciplinary Healthcare Team event on Thursday, March 1st from 6:30-9:00pm in SSB 4.212. The purpose of the event is to encourage collaboration between pharmacy, nursing, social work, and nutrition students by working on a case study together. The event is ideal for beginner to intermediate level students such as pre-nursing and upper-division undergraduates and AE MSN students in the foundation year. Experienced RNs are encouraged to participate as Team Experts and help to guide the discussion. Light snacks will be provided.
