2008 CHPR Conference
Advancing Healthy Aging
February 6, 2008
UT Alumni Center Connally Ballroom
Dear Colleague
We are pleased to invite you to Promoting Health in Underserved Populations: Advancing Healthy Aging, a research conference sponsored by the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research in Underserved Populations (CHPR). The elimination of health disparities in underserved populations through interdisciplinary and collaborative research in health promotion and disease prevention is a central aim of CHPR and we are pleased to partner with the Ex-Students’ Association of The University of Texas, the School of Social Work, the Center for Social Work Research, Seton Family of Hospitals, and Sigma Theta Tau’s Epsilon Theta chapter to disseminate important information on promoting health in aging.
CHPR was established in 1999 through funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Nursing Research (P30NR005051). This grant provides support for the development and dissemination of research to improve the health of underserved populations. The conference will feature a keynote presentation by noted elder health researcher Jeanie Kayser-Jones, PhD, RN, FAAN (University of California, San Francisco), a closing address by Mark Hayward, PhD (from UT-Austin’s Population Research Center) and the work of ten other distinguished researchers.
Please take a moment to review this brochure and register to join this important dialogue on promoting the health of underserved elders on February 6, 2008.
