ABSTRACT: The Center for Social Work Research (CSWR) at the University of Texas at Austin is a nationally recognized research unit whose faculty members and researchers are known for their expertise in such areas as mental health, substance abuse, child welfare, poverty and welfare reform, and domestic violence. Funding for more than 400 projects has been awarded to CSWR from NIH, NSF, SAMHSA, Robert Wood Johnson, and various other national foundations, as well as from state and local agencies. The Center for Social Work Research is home to the following institutes:

Protective Services Training Institute; Diversity Institute; Addiction Research Institute; Institute on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault; Life Care Institute; Institute for Grief, Loss, and Family Survival; Health Behavior Research & Training Institute

Dr. Mary Marden Velasquez, Associate Dean for Research in the School of Social Work and CSWR Director, will describe the roles of the various institutes and the funded research projects in which CSWR faculty are involved. Dr. Velasquez will also talk about some new faculty research initiatives and explore opportunities for collaboration.
