Abstract: As a group, older African Americans have one of the poorest health profiles. However, there is significant  variability in health experiences within this underrepresented group. The goal of this presentation is to discuss sources of variability in health in the population. Genetic, social, and contextual factors will be discussed as well as approaches to examining unique behavioral and social aspects of this group that contribute to healthy aging.
