Title: Call for Proposals – St. David’s CHPR Pilot Study Grants

Abstract: Dr. Walker will cover the purpose of the pilot study program, intended applicants (tenured or tenure-track UT-Austin faculty), preparing a proposal, budget guidelines, ideal research teams and this year’s priority areas, and the timeline of proposal submission, review, decision, and study process. She will also explain briefly SDCHPR’s other activities and how pilot study proposals fit within that context. There will be a discussion period for questions and answers as well. Grant amounts awarded are up to $25,000.

Research Interests: Dr. Walker is a leading expert in nursing on women’s weight during pregnancy and the postpartum period. She is the author of numerous publications in this area, as well as psychosocial and behavioral health of women during the motherhood transition and its implications for maternal and infant health. She teaches courses in the areas of global health, quantitative data analysis, and philosophic and theoretical foundations of nursing science.
