The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of exercise on affect and feelings in a sample of older, Mexican American women. The specific aims were to:

develop culturally sensitive Spanish versions of the Exercise Induced Feeling States Inventory and Positive and Negative Affect Schedule;

compare measures of feeling state and affect before and after an exercise session; and

compare feeling state and affect between exercisers and non-exercise controls.

The knowledge gained will be used as the basis for future intervention studies designed to assist sedentary women to increase their physical exercise.

STATUS: Completed 5/2001.
