PURPOSE OF SUMMER RESEARCH INSTITUTE
How to initiate and sustain a funded program of research related to underserved populations. Topics will include:

- Community-based research
- Grant writing
- Theoretical Frameworks & Program Theory
- Measuring Outcomes
SUMMER INSTITUTE FACULTY
- Lynn Rew, EdD, RN, FAAN: Expert in adolescent health & interventions for homeless youth
- Sharon Brown, PhD, RN, FAAN: Expert in diabetes self-management among Hispanic populations
- Sharon Horner, PhD, RN, FAAN: Expert in school and community-based interventions with rural children
- Lorraine Walker, RN, EdD: Expert in health promotion of low-income childbearing-age women
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
- Junior and mid-level faculty and post-doctoral fellows from health and health-related disciplines who seek federal or other extramural funding for research with underserved populations (low-income, ethnic minority, or other disadvantaged groups)
- PhD students who have completed 2 or more years of doctoral study
