Mission/Goals
The mission of the Children's Wellness Center is:
- To provide excellence in the delivery of holistic health care for the children in the Del Valle Independent School District (DVISD)
- To promote the development and physical well being of these children by providing specialized services to those with special needs
- To provide a clinical setting for the practice and demonstration of ideal nursing practices to enhance the body of nursing knowledge for undergraduate and graduate student nurses
- To facilitate nursing research activities
Goals of the Children's Wellness Center:
- Provide primary health care services for children
- Provide behavioral/mental health services for children and families
- Collaborate with the community for the well-being of children and their families
- Demonstrate a live clinical teaching model environment for UT nursing students
- Enhance faculty clinical practice
- Provide a clinical instruction model for advanced practice nurses that demonstrates culturally competent care to under-served and rural clients
- Promote clients’ participation in decision-making regarding health promotion and illness prevention
- Increase client use of primary care providers, while decreasing use of emergency rooms for acute, minor illnesses
