BIOGRAPHY

Kim Belcik, PhD(c), RN-BC is an assistant instructor in clinical nursing at the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. Kim is a staff nurse on the medical/surgical unit at Seton Northwest Hospital in Austin, Texas and is certified as a medical-surgical nurse by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. At Seton Northwest, she has been involved in the Robert Woods Johnson/Institute for Healthcare Improvement national program, Transforming Care at the Bedside and has spoken nationally on the project. She is currently pursuing her PhD in nursing at the University of Texas at Austin with an emphasis on nursing systems. Her research interests include: online virtual worlds and understanding information literacy in the nursing workplace. Kim is active in the Texas Nurses Association and has served as President for the local district. Ms. Belcik received a BS from Texas A&M University and her BSN from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
