BIOGRAPHY

Alexandra A. Garcia, PhD, RN, is an Assistant Professor in the Family, Public Health, and Nursing Systems Division. She has taught courses for undergraduate and graduate students including Analysis and Interpretation of Data, Health of Ethnic and Cultural Minority Populations in Texas, Instrumentation and Measurement, Nursing Research, Public Health Assurance and Policy, and Public Health Program Planning. She recently led a group of UT students to Guadalajara, Mexico for a study abroad course: Spanish for Health Care Professionals. Her research focuses on the symptom experience of Mexican Americans with type 2 diabetes. Other scholarly interests include exploring social, cultural, and economic influences on health promotion practices, disease self-management, and quality of life.
