Biography

Dr. Walker received a Master’s degree in nursing education with a specialization in maternity nursing and a doctoral degree in philosophy of education from Indiana University-Bloomington. She recently also received the MPH degree in maternal-child health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She currently holds the Luci B. Johnson Centennial Professorship in Nursing and is Director of the St. David’s Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research in Underserved Populations. Her research is in the area of health promotion of childbearing-aged women and infants. Her teaching includes global health, data analysis using SPSS, and theoretical and philosophic aspect of nursing.
