Jaime Nelson is an Instructor of Clinical Nursing in the Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. She was an Alternate Entry MSN student and a member of the first graduating class of FPMHNP students at the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. Jaime also has a Bachelors of Arts in Government from the University of Texas at Austin that has been the inspiration for her work advocating for APRN practice and increased access to mental health care in the state of Texas. She maintains a small clinical practice focusing primarily on clients living with dementia, mood disorders, behavioral disturbances, psychotic disorders, intellectual and pervasive developmental disorders and anxiety disorders. She is currently serving as the president of the Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses of Austin (PAPNA) and is the vice chair of the Coalition for Nurses in Advanced Practice (CNAP).
