Computer Services

EID and Password

A University electronic ID and password is required of all students who wish to use computer facilities on the UT campus. Students should get their EID when they enrolled in the University. The UT Help desk can provide useful information about EID accounts. Call them at 495-9400. For additional help getting or using your EID, ask the Learning Center Staff.

Internet & E-mail

All computers at the Learning Center are internet-ready and equipped with both Internet Explore and Firefox. Students can access their university e-mail account through Eudora or Webmail or may use hotmail or yahoo accounts.

Software

The computers at the Learning Center contain an array of the latest software including:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, FrontPage, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Dream Weaver (make web pages)
  • FileMaker
  • EndNote (bibliographic software)
  • SPSS
  • Adobe Photoshop and Pagemaker

Numerous instructional and educational programs such as Encyclopedia of Nursing Skills, Physical Assessment, and an excellent NCLEX practice programs called NCLEX-RN 3500 are available.

Laptops

The Learning Center has 11 Dell laptops all equipped with wireless Internet access and 3 Apple Macintosh laptops ready for students to check out for two-week periods.  All laptops are equipped with the basic software essential to the students’ studies.

Printing

The Learning Center has two printers available for students. A pre-paid BevoBucks account is required. Cost of printing is eleven cents a page.  There is no color printing in the L.C.

Class

Learning Center offers a variety of free and informal computing instruction on an "as requested" basis. Ask a staff member for assistance at any time. View Computer Class Schedule for more information.
