WebSpace UT Direct

WebSpace is a file storage and Web publishing service provided by Information Technology Services (ITS). WebSpace is funded by ITAC fees and there are no additional charges for basic service. Think of WebSpace as a zip disc on the web. You may upload and save any file that you would normally put on a disc to a safe and secure site on the web. You may then access these files from any internet ready computer. There are many advantages to using WebSpace. First, you eliminate the cost of discs and the risk of damage to those discs while transporting them from home to school.

In addition, Webspace allows you to make files and folders public or shared. A public file may be viewed by anyone on the web. A shared file can only be viewed by UT students you specify.

This feature makes coordinating group projects a breeze. You can also store research .pdf articles that you find in CINAHL and other databases. You will no longer have to email articles.

To access WebSpace you must be a UT student, staff, or faculty with a working UT EID and password. Online help instructions are available at WebSpace web site.

Your login and password are the same as your UT EID.

The icons make using WebSpace pretty self explanatory, but here are some helpful hints:

  • Organize your personal WebSpace by creating folders- click on new folder
  • Save documents to WebSpace by clicking on Upload. (To save a document in a specific folder you must click on it first)
  • Retrieve documents from WebSpace by clicking Download or on the document name itself.
  • Share documents or folders by clicking on share. Sharing a document allows specific UT students to view (and edit if you choose) a document You must know the individual’s UT EID (not password) to share a file.
