Public Nursing Lectures

Three lectures, including one on holistic nursing, are planned at the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing this spring. All are free and open to the public.

Dr. C. Thomas Caskey, president and chief executive officers of Cogene Biotech Ventures, will discuss "Medical Revelations are Nursing's Challenge" March 28 at 2 p.m. at the Joe C. Thompson Conference Center, Room 1.110. A reception will follow. He is delivering the annual Cain Lectureship in Genetics.

On April 24, Dr. Michael D. Resnick of the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Health and the National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Research Center at the University of Minnesota, will give the Laverne Gallman Lecture in Nursing. His talk, titled "What We Know and Where We Must Go: Enhancing Protective Factors in the Lives of Adolescents," will be held in the Reception Hall at 10:30 a.m. in the Frank C. Erwin Center, 1701 Red River St.

Dr. Lynn Rew, who hold the Denton A. and Louise Cooley and Family Centennial Professorship in Nursing at the university's School of Nursing, will deliver a lecture April 25 on "Holistic Nursing in the 21st Century: What it is and What it is Not." The talk will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Reception Hall of the Frank C. Erwin Center, 1701 Red River St.
