SWPC Interns Present Findings
Nursing students from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico and The University of Texas at Austin participated in a month-long research internship during July 2003. Each intern was paired with a Nurse Researcher who has a research project funded by the National Institutes of Health. The research studies focus on health disparities or health promotion. The student interns worked closely in collaboration with their faculty mentor to identify a research question they could answer by using the researcher's data. Students engaged in the research process -- developing research questions, selecting variables, and analyzing data. The students presented their findings to faculty, students, and staff as
the final exercise in their internship.
