After a brief orientation, we will review skills from last semester so come prepared with your stethoscopes and BP cuffs. Instruction for the first day of class: Welcome to NUR264 Nursing Research Online!
This online course is administered through the UT Teleconference facilities (UTTC) and uses UTTC Blackboard.
For students who would like to begin as soon as the course is published, simply login to the course site and click on the “Announcements” tab located along the left side of the screen. Step-by-step procedures for reviewing the site to complete a self-orientation to the course are provided in lieu of attending the optional face-to-face orientation session described below.
Optional: Students who wish to meet and greet each other and faculty are invited to attend a face-to-face first day of class orientation session scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Computer Classroom located in the Learning Center of the School of Nursing on the fifth floor room number 5.102G. Instruction for the first day of class: Welcome to N377 (Honors) Leadership and Management of Nursing. The first day of class will be August 28, 2009 from 9:00-12 Noon in Room 5.180 in the SON. The first day of class will include a discussion of the syllabus and course design, including course requirements and grading rubric. Instruction for the first day of class: We will meet in room 4.150 at the School of Nursing on Thursday, August 27 at 1 pm. Check Blackboard and your email the morning of the 27th for the most up-to-date information and documents for our class. Bring a copy of the syllabus and come dressed in professional street attire. Bring your lab coat and name tag. Following a general orientation to the course, we will tour our clinical unit at Brackenridge. We should finish around 3pm.
Our first clinical day at Brackenridge will be Tuesday, September 1 from 6:30-1:00. We will finish this day with a skills review at the School of Nursing from 1:30-3:30. You are expected to review all cumulative skills before this skills review, particularly those taught in your J2 skills course.
