ST. DAVID'S MEDICAL CENTER HEALTHCARE VOLUNTEERS SCHOLARSHIPS

The St. David's Medical Center Healthcare Volunteers scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and financial need. Funds may be awarded in five categories:

  1. St. David's Medical Center Junior Volunteers pursuing a degree in any field. Preference will be given to the volunteers who have volunteered longer and with more hours.
  2. Upper division students (College Juniors and Seniors) pursuing a degree in a field related directly or indirectly to the delivery of medical services.
  3. Graduate students pursuing an advanced degree related directly or indirectly to the delivery of medical services.
  4. Students pursuing an associate degree related directly or indirectly to the delivery of medical services.
  5. Students pursuing a vocational educational program related to health care. Eligible programs are non-degree granting but certification is awarded upon completion of the program.

The scholarships are available for the Summer of 2008, Fall of 2008, and the Spring of 2009.  Scholarships are $750 for one Summer semester and $1500 for Spring and Fall semesters. The associate degree scholarships are $750 per semester. Vocational scholarships are $750 per semester or session and are limited to one year of study per student.  The scholarships may be used only for tuition, fees, and books. Scholarships will not be awarded to any student planning to attend school outside the state of Texas.  Exceptions to this rule will only be considered for present or past St. David's Medical Center volunteers furnishing proof of volunteer service.

Scholarship applications must be received by the St. David's Healthcare Volunteers or postmarked no later than March 1, 2008. In order for the applicant to be considered for a scholarship, the application must be complete. Sealed letters of recommendation may either be mailed separately or included with the application.
