Student and Clinical Affairs
OverviewThe Student Affairs Staff serves both prospective and enrolled School of Nursing students. Staff members answer inquiries from prospective students and distribute information about undergraduate and graduate nursing degree programs offered at the University of Texas at Austin. Prospective and current students in these degree programs are served in a variety of ways and are encouraged to direct questions about admission, registration, scholarships, campus services, clinical and career placement, and other related concerns to the Student Affairs staff. The Office of Student Affairs provides the following services:
To best serve School of Nursing students, the Office of Student Affairs provides two distinct locations: the Student Affairs Office (NUR 2.104A) and the Graduate Office (NUR 2.104N). Students are encouraged to visit the office most appropriate for their particular needs. Undergraduate StudentsThe Student Affairs Office is staffed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Student Affairs staff may be contacted by phone at (512) 232-4780 or by emailing Student Affairs. Graduate StudentsThe Graduate Office is staffed from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday-Friday. The Graduate staff may be contacted at (512) 232-4701 or emailing the Graduate Office. Clinical PlacementThe Clinical Placement staff is responsible for the coordination of clinical placements for University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing students. This involves ongoing interaction with clinical agencies to confirm availability, accuracy, appropriateness, and ease of placements within a variety of settings. Coordination of student clinical placements involves management of corresponding databases and agency contracts. Community activities include involvement with the Health Industry Steering Committee (HISC), a consortium of industry, community, education, and public agencies dedicated to address workforce issues that can help persons move into successful careers in healthcare. In addition, community outreach is an integral part of the Clinical Coordination position ensuring ongoing clinical placement opportunities through the expansion and diversification of clinical sites.
